35 Best Black Friday Mattress Deals (2023): Foam, Hybrid, and Sheets

-

- Advertisment -

If you’ve ever researched mattresses, you may have noticed they tend to be permanently on sale. Don’t be fooled, this is a marketing tactic—and Black Friday mattress deals are no exception. Prices are usually marked up exorbitantly, then dropped down to a “sale” price. You see the huge discount and think it’s a good time to buy. Sometimes, though, prices do drop lower than that faux deal, and right now some of our favorite mattresses and a bunch of sheets and other sleep accessories are truly discounted. The prices below are for queen sizes unless noted.

We track prices throughout the year so we know how good the sale prices are, but we’ve added a few new mattresses that we haven’t been able to track as closely yet. Some of those prices may be reduced even more, and more of our favorites will likely also have good discounts closer to Black Friday. Be sure to read our buying guides for the Best Mattresses You Can Buy Online, Best Organic Mattresses, and Best Mattresses for Side Sleepers. And check out the rest of our favorite Black Friday Deals. Updated November 26 at 3am.

We test products year-round and handpicked these deals. The discount amounts we show are based on actual street prices at retailers in the past few months. Products that are sold out or no longer discounted as of publishing will be crossed out. We’ll update this guide periodically.

If you buy something using links in our stories, we may earn a commission. This helps support our journalism. Learn more.

Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress

Enter code BF25 at checkout to get this discount, plus a mattress protector, sheet set, and two pillows. The Midnight Luxe Hybrid is our favorite mattress, and it’s frequently discounted to $1,899. This price matches other sales we’ve tracked, and we haven’t seen it get lower yet. The medium-firm feel is relaxing for all sleeping positions, but our tester loved it for stomach sleeping. We tried the Midnight Luxe, but there are a few other versions in the Luxe family for different firmness levels and sleeping positions.

Code BF25 adds the discount plus a mattress protector, sheet set, and two pillows. We haven’t been tracking the Elite as long as the Luxe, but this matches the cheapest price we saw during Labor Day. Even with a sale, this is the most expensive mattress we recommend. It has nine layers of foam over the Luxe’s six, and it is 16 inches thick. It comes in two boxes and zips together to form one, super-thick bed. You’ll need a bed frame with slats. Like the Luxe, there are various options meant for different sleeping positions and levels of firmness. We tried the softest one, which cradled us to sleep.

My Green Mattress Kiwi Hybrid Mattress

Photograph: My Green Mattress

Use code HOLIDAYS at checkout to apply the discount. This $649 price is $70 less than when the sale first started. We’ve seen it get cheaper, but not this year, so this is a solid price. If you want your kids to sleep on a hybrid mattress that’s made using certified organic cotton, wool, and latex, get them the Kiwi. Its twin size is cheaper than most of our favorite picks, but it’s still comfortably firm—WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson says his children think it’s the most comfortable bed they’ve slept on.

Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress

Enter code BLACKFRIDAY at checkout to get this deal on our favorite side-sleeping mattress, as well as a free mattress protector, sheet set, and two pillows. The Bear Elite is 14 inches thick and firmer than most mattresses aimed at side sleepers, but it’s comfortable, with a layer of springs of varied rigidity that allow your hips to sink while still supporting your side. The Elite occasionally reaches its $2,305 price, but it’s been steadily $1,614 or less on Amazon for a few months—it was $126 less than this sale price in September, but the base price has since risen.

Use code BF25 on Birch’s site to get the discount plus two pillows. This is another mattress we haven’t been tracking as long, but it seems to almost always be at $2,599, rather than its $3,249 list price. The Birch Luxe Natural is an upgraded, organic bed. It’s GOTS-certified, using natural latex with no polyurethane-based foams. It’s medium-firm with structured support for varying sleeping positions, and the pillowy top uses a layer of blended cashmere to help with temperature regulation.

This is a new, super cheap addition to our guide. It’s been around $219 since May and only just shot up to over $300 on Amazon at the beginning of November. We hope it will drop back down, but $58 off an already cheap bed isn’t bad, plus it’s made without formaldehyde or flame retardant. It’s super soft, and we slept comfortably, but we probably wouldn’t want to sleep on it every night. It’s best reserved for kids or guest rooms.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Cobalt Calm Plush Pillowtop

Photograph: Serta

There are a bunch of customizations you can select for this mattress, but we tested the ultimate support level with a plush pillow top. The Perfect Sleeper is an innerspring mattress, and it doesn’t come all rolled up so you’ll have to schedule delivery. It’s soft and supportive, and those springs are arranged in three zones of firmness so side and back sleepers should find comfort.

Use code WIRED50 to get $50 off the listed sale price, plus two pillows, sheets, and a mattress protector. We’re newly tracking the Evolution, but so far, we’ve only seen it reach its $2,499 price for a handful of days on Amazon since August—it hovers between $1,699 and $1,624. So this deal isn’t quite as steep, but the company is offering an extra $50 off for WIRED readers. It’s one of our favorite beds for side sleepers, particularly for spine alignment. The seven layers take a few weeks to really break in, so you may need to give it time before you decide if it’s the bed for you—you have 120 nights to decide, however you have to pay $99 for pick up.

Saatva Classic Mattress

Photograph: Saatva

We haven’t seen the Saatva Classic actually reach its $1,995 list price yet, but trackers and other reviews confirm it’s typically between $1,695 and $1,795. Pricing aside, this innerspring mattress is great if you’re dealing with back pain. Like the Serta above, it needs to be delivered by a truck, rather than rolled up and sent through FedEx. We tried the luxury firmness level, which has an organic cotton pillow top that’s quilted in zones to promote lumbar support, and a high-density foam layer in the middle also helps aching lower backs. It has great edge support, too, which a lot of bed-in-a-box mattresses lack.

This mattress was $70 less, reaching $1,079, during the first two weeks of November. It’s a great bed for pressure relief, but it might not be the best time to buy it. The Premier has an extra layer of foam and is softer than the original memory foam mattress we recommended from this brand, so you can sink slowly into this bed while still being supported. If you buy directly from Nectar’s site, make sure you click hybrid before adding to your cart; it defaults to foam. This is best if you sleep only on your side. If you flop around, consider another one of our picks, particularly the Bear Elite above.

Photograph: Plank

You don’t need a code for Amazon, but on other retailers, use BFRIDAY30. The Plank is, as the name suggests, firm. Like firm firm, as if you were sleeping on a wood floor. You can flip it over to sleep on top of the two inches of comfort foam, but if you’re intrigued by a bed called the Plank, you likely don’t want to do that. It took a few days to inflate fully, so you might think it’s too soft at first; we found it firmed up considerably. The edge support is lacking, however.

The discount should be added automatically when you go to check out. While this honorable mention mattress is often discounted, Keetsa is not a forever-sale type of brand, so we appreciate it when actual deals happen. This is a softer mattress, and our side-sleeping tester wasn’t blown away by it, but he slept comfortably through the night.

Enter code BFCM2023 at checkout to get this discount plus two free pillows. Like Keetsa, Molecule doesn’t run constant deals, and this is the lowest price we’ve tracked for it. It has held up well after a year, and I find it comfortable, but it’s very soft. My husband and I agree that it’s better suited for back sleeping than the flip-flopping that I tend to do all night.

We’ve found that cheap mattresses are rarely worth the money saved, but the Linenspa is the best cheap mattress we’ve used. Overall it’s pretty comfortable to sleep on, especially given the cost. There are obvious differences between it and the pricey beds we love, like creaky springs with no motion isolation, but if you can’t spend more, it’s your best bet.

Toppers and Sleep Accessory Deals

My Green Mattress Organic Latex Topper

Photograph: My Green Mattress

Use code HOLIDAYS to get the lowest price we’ve tracked on this mattress topper. If your mattress is still in good shape, you can get a refresh and potentially save yourself a few thousand bucks with a topper. My Green Mattress, the company that makes our favorite organic kids’ bed, also makes our favorite firm topper. It’s two inches of certified organic latex wrapped in an organic cotton cover, and despite being reasonably firm, it contours nicely, and you should be comfortable sleeping on your side. WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson said while sleeping on his stomach or back he didn’t touch his actual mattress at all, and just barely when he rolled to his side.

The 82-inch long Wiggle Pillow is a bit bigger than most body pillows, so you can really wrap it around yourself. It’s soft enough to squish or snuggle, or tie it up to make a harder surface to rest against. The outside is made of the same eucalyptus Tencel lyocell fabric as the brand’s sheets below, and it’s stuffed with filling made from recycled plastic.

Plufl Human Dog Bed

Photograph: Plufl

OK, this is not a replacement for your mattress, but the Plufl (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is a cozy place for reading, watching TV, or otherwise lounging in before getting into your actual bed. It’s typically $399 on Amazon, so this is $100 off, which is a good discount on a very pricey accessory. The plush cover is cozy and soft, and it’s machine washable. If the bolsters are too stiff or tall for your liking, you can take out some of the stuffing.

This deal is part of a larger promotion offering 25 percent off site-wide. This robe is supremely comfy and comes in a wide array of colors and patterns. The towel-like material absorbs water after a shower, but the robe is also comfortable enough to wear for hours after your shower. (Does anyone else do that?)

Photograph: Hatch

Perhaps the perfect bedside device for your nightstand, the Hatch Restore 2 is a sunrise alarm clock and sound machine in one. It’s one of our favorite sleep gadgets and appears in our Best Sound Machines guide. You can customize your sleep schedule in the app, but you only get a basic library of content unless you splash out for a subscription at $5 per month or $50 per year. At Hatch, the discount will show up in your cart. At Amazon, be sure to clip the on-page coupon.

These top our Best Earplugs guide when it comes to the earplugs for sleep. They can reduce noise by up to 27 decibels, they’re made from comfortable soft silicone, and they stay in place through the night.

Our Best Sheets guide has more options to choose from.

Luxome Bamboo Luxury Sheets

Photograph: Luxome

I always thought only the crispiest of sheets would do. While I do love them, these bamboo sheets are luxuriously silky smooth and stay cool throughout the night. They haven’t gotten pilly in the wash, and their deep pockets and elastic straps keep them from riding up the sides of the mattress. If you want to try bamboo for less, the Bedsure sheets below are much cheaper.

Percale is a type of cotton weave, not a type of fabric. Sheets made this way tend to be crisp, cool, and lightweight, like a button-up shirt. We have cheaper favorites in our guide, but Parachute’s sheets are also great. They feel rough at first, but soften up with every wash and they’ve held up after years of regular use.

The Company Store Legends Hotel Velvet Flannel Sheets

Photograph: The Company Store

Enter code FRIYAY23 to get 40 percent off our favorite flannel sheets. They might feel a little stiff initially, but they soften up with each wash and are still the softest to the touch of the others we tried. They’re also the warmest.

L.L. Bean’s flannels are soft, but not quite as soft as the Company Store’s. However, they are lighter. They’re a good choice if you want more of a warm jersey than a traditional, thick flannel.

If you can splurge, Coyuchi’s sheets are WIRED writer Nena Farrell’s favorite flannels. She said they’re warm and cozy, but still a little lighter than the Company Store’s. The neutral colors and stripes are also pretty.

Buffy Breeze Eucalyptus Sheet Set

Photograph: Buffy

These sheets are cheaper on Amazon with the coupon button, but are available in more colors and patterns directly from Buffy if you want something particular. Buffy’s eucalyptus sheets are the only ones my husband actually said he loved. They’re light and airy but still feel cozy when you’re between them. They’re not super deep, though, so they’re better for slimmer mattresses. Tencel lyocell is a biodegradable material made from sustainable wood sources—in this case, eucalyptus.

Sateen is another type of cotton weave, like percale, but uses extra threads to make it feel silkier. It’s also a little heavier. JCPenney’s sateen sheets are our favorite ones. We typically see them for $90, rather than the $140 list price, but this is still one of the cheapest prices we’ve tracked. All the sizes are $50 too, which is nice if you have a larger bed. They’re soft and cool, with the silky finish sateen is known for without being slippery. We can barely tell the difference between these ones and the sateen sheets that cost double the price.

Lilysilk Sheets

Photograph: Lilysilk

Silk sheets are not cheap, and we’ve only tried this brand so far. However, they’re buttery soft and luxurious feeling without getting sticky like cheap satin can sometimes do. I used a fitted sheet ($259) with a regular percale flat sheet, but if you want the full set or one sheet with a pillowcase, you can get 25 percent off the second item. If you spend over $300, which isn’t hard to do here, use code BDF15 to get an additional 15 percent off the BOGO sale. Momme is how silk sheet density is categorized. Nineteen momme is a great place to start, but Lilysilk has higher densities available which equal more threads and more durability and, of course, more money.

We weren’t sure we’d enjoy sleeping on linen, and we almost quit before testing started. However, consider us converts. When I first got into bed, these Brooklinen sheets were itchy, but after a few minutes, I relaxed and that feeling went away. The result was some of the soundest, coolest sleep I’ve had and neither I nor my husband woke up sweaty, even during the Texas summer with two cats snuggled into us. Brooklinen’s excellent Luxe Sateen Sheets are also on sale. They’re silky-smooth.

WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson tests organic bedding, and these are the best organic cotton sheets he’s tried. They’re soft but not overly silky. The 300 thread count makes this set plenty crisp and soft, but not so tight that you end up sleeping hot. These are a great choice for summer or if, like Scott, you sleep on the warm side even in winter.

Big Blanket Co Original Stretch Oversized Blanket

Photograph: Amazon

Never fight with your partner over the comforter again. This gigantic 10 by 10 blanket is a dream product. It’s soft and silky, and can keep an entire family or two cozy while watching a movie, or one person can bundle themselves into the most comfortable burrito.

These are great budget sheets made from bamboo that feel cool and comfortable. They’re not quite as nice as Luxome Bamboo Sheets, but if I hadn’t been trying them side by side, I don’t think I would have noticed. There are a lot of very pricey sheets out there, but you don’t need to sacrifice comfort. Annoyingly, each color costs slightly different amounts, ranging from $44 to $55 for a queen size. Most typically cost $60, not the $95 list price, but some have hovered at $55 for the last few months.

Read our Weighted Blankets guide for more options and buying advice.

Brooklinen Weighted Throw Blanket

Photograph: Brooklinen

You may have noticed Brooklinen is on this list multiple times. The brand knows great sleep gear. This 12-pound weighted blanket is a good size, bigger than a regular throw but small enough that you can sleep with it even if you share a bed with someone who doesn’t like weighted blankets (like I do). It’s also just pretty, with one textured side and nice colors.

This discount is added automatically in your cart if you buy directly from the brand. Baloo’s blanket is a more traditional throw blanket size if you need something smaller than Brooklinen’s and it’s made of crispy cool cotton. It’s 12 pounds, but there are larger sizes available with 15-, 20-, and 25-pound weights. Baloo also has a 9-pound mini blanket discounted to $119 ($30 off), which is good for kids, but I also like using it sometimes on my lap at my desk or when I want weight at night but not too much extra bulk.

Like Baloo’s mini blanket, the Nodpod Body is a small weighted pad that covers just enough to feel the benefits without the heat or extra fabric. Nodpod’s Weighted Eye Mask for $27 ($7 off) is also a favorite of mine. It’s enough pressure to help tired eyes, but not so much that you feel like your head is 100 pounds. If you buy directly from the brand, the discount is added in your cart.

Hug Sleep Sleep Pod

Photograph: Brian Mundt/Hug Sleep

You’re either going to love sleeping in this or hate it. Despite getting itchy and restless easily at night, I loved it. The thin, cool fabric uses compression to mimic the benefits of weighted blankets without the actual weight. This makes it easier to take with you while traveling, too. The Sleep Pod Move with an open bottom for your feet to stick out of is also discounted to $60.

Updated November 26: We’ve added more deals on sheets and weighted blankets. We’ve also updated prices and links throughout.
