EU Election Report Not Worth My Response – Keyamo Says After Being Mocked Online

- Advertisment -

Former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has reacted to European Union Election Observation Missions, EU-EOM, report exposing him for sharing fake news days to the 2023 general election in Nigeria.

Following social media backlash, Keyamo claimed the report did not deserve his response.

Recall that the report listed Keyamo and Femi Fani-Kayode, as part of personalities that spread fake news ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In a statement via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, the former minister also alleged that the EU-EOM report “exposed a deep-seated bias about how the so-called observers went about their assignment.”

He wrote, “The part of the EU report that asserts that there was a single incident throughout the whole campaign where I retweeted a news item by a ‘suspicious website’ does not deserve my response because it is so presumptuous and outside their mandate and exposes a deep-seated bias about how the so-called observers went about their assignment. However, for the education of the gullible and unfortunate ones who are jubilating over such a poor report, I will say a word or two”.

@General_Oluchi

So why are you responding to the report? You wrote this lengthy essay among others just to tell us you are not angry with the EU report? So we should believe you and not the report?

You said: “How can foreigners come into a country and declare a local news website as ‘suspicious’ (without more) and just walk away? What arrogance!”

You mean the same foreigners you and Lai Mohammed rushed to sell Tinubu and badmouth Peter Obi to are now bad? You never told us the outcome of that VOA interview you gloated about in Washington DC.

Are you accusing the European Union of bribery and false information? Why not sue them?

@claude_c

Mr SAN let’s get it straight we ain’t mad ya. That’s who you are. Truth, honesty, accountability, fairness and dignity means nothing to you as long as you get power and job opportunity which every SENSIBLE Nigerian knows by now. You misinformed people about  Tinubu/family source of wealth, you misinformed people by putting the wrong narrative of USA election dispute to measure the sham election in Nigeria. You misinformed Nigerians by saying election was free and fair. You misinformed Nigerians by saying Tinubu is healthy. Let me clarify something, if Nigeria gets 20% transparency compared to the western elections we will in a good place and I don’t think we can achieve that in our system without getting rid of people like you without integrity in our political space.

@prosperray3

Grand master of fake news 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@incredibledude9

Sir, I have a few responses to your post:

Firstly, you initially stated in your post that the EU report did not warrant a response, but you proceeded to provide a well-thought-out response spanning over five paragraphs. Therefore, it seems that you do believe the report deserves a thorough response after all.

Point 1:

As you correctly mentioned, the role of EU observers is to observe and report. They fulfilled this duty by presenting their observations in the form of a report. So, I am curious as to why you take issue with them simply doing their job.

Point 2:

Sir, when you, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), posted about the alleged bribery involving Peter Obi and pastors, did you seek perspectives from both sides before making your post?

Point 3 & 4 :

The report states that all political parties attempted to spread false stories, but the EU report specifically highlighted the APC.

They singled YOU and Mr. Fani-Kayode out because, as a SAN and a former minister, you are expected to possess knowledge and expertise. It is understandable that young people may be shocked when individuals with such backgrounds exhibit such behavior.

Lastly, it would be interesting to see how you debunked the EU reports during the 2019 and 2015 elections, as it would demonstrate your consistent rejection of their findings in previous elections.

@Sirodue1

Just when I thought we could get some peace, Mr Mugu blah blah blah “ SAN “strikes again! Oh well, Keep on blabbering, buddy…Perhaps you will be rewarded with another junior minister.

@confampeace413
