Three persons have been abducted including a nursing mother as bandits invaded Garin Gabas near Yakila in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, two security personnel were injured during the attack while two operational vehicles belonging to security operatives were set ablaze.
It was gathered that the suspected bandits targeted herds of cattle in the village for rustling but luck was said to have run against them following the alleged relocation of the cattle to a safer place in Zungeru, Wushishi LGA of the state.
Apparently annoyed by the development, the bandits numbering about 100, were said to have gone berserk, shooting and burning down the properties belonging to the villagers including two Operational Vehicles allegedly parked at the Primary School in a Community where the security operatives usually converted to their camp.
Reacting to the incident, the state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, condoled with the aggrieved people of Kagara Emirate Council over the heartless attack and vowed to put an end to the security challenges bedeviling the state.
Bago, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the attack as unfortunate and commiserated with the families of the victims.
The Governor thereby appealed to the people to show more understanding with his administration as he was not leaving anything to chance with regard to securing the lives and properties of the citizens of the state.
He also appealed to the people to be security conscious and provide credible intelligence to relevant authorities for proactive steps in addressing the ugly situation.
Governor Bago applauded the bravery of the Security Operatives who engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel and assured them of continuous support as his administration has prioritized the safety and well-being of the citizens of the state.
The Governor also prayed for the quick recovery of the two injured security operatives and the safe return of the abducted victims.
