Terrorists Shoot Victim Kidnapped From Zamfara College Staff Member’s Residence After Police Interception

On Friday in the early hours, a band of terrorists raided the residence of Mr. Kabiru Umar Faruku, a staff member of Zamfara College of Art and Science (ZACAS), and abducted his security guard during the attack.

According to one of Mr Kabiru’s students who spoke to SaharaReporters, the terrorists broke into the residence at Sabon Garin Damba in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, with the intent of kidnapping Kabiru and his family. However, the terrorists decided to kidnap his security guard who they met at the entrance of the house.

“They did not see Alhaji and his family and this was why they kidnapped his security man,” the student told SaharaReporters.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar confirmed the attack and identified the kidnapped man as Hassan Abdullahi, in a press statement made available to SaharaReporters on Friday morning.

In his statement, Yezid claimed that the terrorists were intercepted by Nigeria Police Force personnel on the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba, and the terrorists shot Hassan Abdullahi as soon as they spotted the security operatives.

The police added that Hassan was rescued and rushed to a nearby medical facility where he is currently receiving treatment.

The statement reads: “On 29th December 2023 at about 0130hrs a group of armed men suspected to be abductors armed with dangerous weapons invaded the house of ALH Kabiru Umar Faruku a Staff of Zamfara College of Art and Science (ZACAS) Gusau located at Sabon Garin Damba attacked and abducted his watchman malam Hassan Abdullahi aged 52 yrs.

“On receiving the information the Divisional Police Officer of Damba Division mobilized a team of detectives for a search and rescue operation where they intercepted the abductors at the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba and on sighting the police the hoodlums fired the victim on his right hand and took to their heels with a possible gunshots.

“Meanwhile, the victim was rescued and taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, responding for treatment.

“However, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command Cp Muhammad Shehu Dalijan psc fsi commended the effort and timely report from the good people of Sabon Garin Damba that assisted in the rescued of the victim and also urged the good people of the state to inculcate from them.

“Additionally, the commissioner reiterated that under my watch, I will continue to take the war against the bandits and other criminal elements in the state until normalcy is restored in the state.”
