Some notorious kidnappers terrorising Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states have been eliminated by the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

They were neutralised following a gunfight with the IRT operatives at their hideout around Gitata, along Keffi Gidan Wire Road, Nasarawa State.

The police said the feat is in continuation of the ongoing fight against crime and criminality in the country and part of the sustained efforts to cleanse the system of criminals, most especially kidnappers.

A statement from Force headquarters said, “In the early hours of February 8, 2024, some notorious kidnappers and gun runners who have been terrorising Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states were neutralised.

“Similarly, four (4) AK47 rifles, dangerous weapons, and a bag of ammunition were recovered.

“These neutralised individuals have also been involved in supplying arms to bandits operating within the same axis.

“This successful operation, conducted in the early hours of Thursday, demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the NPF to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

“We will continue to employ all necessary measures to rid our communities of criminal elements and maintain peace and order across the nation

.

In a similar vein, Operatives of FCT Police Command, attached to Utako Divisional Headquarters, on February 7, 2024, at about 11 p.m., in a coordinated raid operation, arrested six (6) suspected armed robbers in an uncompleted hospital building, which is a marked black spot in Utako village.

A statement by FCT Police Command said, “The suspects are Basara Hassan, 41, Daniel Charles, 27, Adamu M. Oshiaka, 32, Chancy Asidi, 38, and Saliu Al Hassan, 24, all from neighbouring states bordering FCT were arrested.

“A locally made pistol, two (2) live cartridges, and wraps of substances suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects.

“Further investigation about the recovered ammunition led to the arrest of one Yusuf Iliyasu, aka Tablet, who is an ex-convict and the syndicate leader.

“While investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, wishes to assure residents of his unwavering commitment to make Abuja a hell for criminals and to ensure safety of all.

“He equally urges residents to report suspicious activities through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883; PCB: 09022222352.”
