Death Of My Police Aide Must Be Avenged – APC Governorship Candidate, Okpebholo Vows

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has demanded justice for his Police orderly who was killed by suspected political thugs on Thursday in Benin City.

Daily Post reports that the Police orderly identified as Inspector Akor Onu was killed after leaving the Benin airport premises on arrival from Abuja with Senator Okpebholo and Philip Shaibu, the now-reinstated Deputy Governor of the state.

Recall that Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu was on March 8, 2024, impeached by the Edo State House of Assembly, he was, however, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, reinstated by Justice Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

It appears, however, that his reinstatement has ruffled some feathers and angered some groups of persons who allegedly engineered an attack, during which Inspector Onu was killed.

In a condolence message, the APC governorship candidate noted that he would not rest until the perpetrators of the unprovoked brutal attack on him leading to the cruel and violent killing of Inspector Akor Onu are brought to justice.

A statement signed by Godswill Inegbe, Legislative Aide to Senator Monday Okpebholo on Media & Communication, in Benin City on Friday, said, the Senator empathized with the injured members of his convoy receiving treatments in various hospitals in the state.

According to him, following the brutal attack on the convoy of Senator Monday Okpebholo by Edo State Security Network and State thugs at the exit gate of the Benin Airport on Thursday, Senator Okpebholo has expressed sadness, condoling with the family of the killed policeman during the unprovoked attack.

“He noted that he will not rest until the perpetrators of the unprovoked brutal attack on him leading to the cruel and violent killing of Inspector Akor Onu are brought to justice.

“In the same vein, the Senator empathizes with the injured members of his convoy receiving treatment in various hospitals in Benin City.

“Senator Okpebholo in a condolence message on Friday morning in Benin City through his Media Aide, Godswill Inegbe, demands justice for the slain policeman, noting that he will not rest until the perpetrators of the unprovoked brutal attack on him leading to the cruel and violent killing of Inspector Akor Onu are brought to justice.

“I am saddened and heartbroken about the tragic killing of Inspector Akor Onu. He was a good policeman, one of the finest in the Nigeria Police Force.

“Inspector Onu was unreservedly committed to his assigned duty, and due to his exceptional commitment and effective policing we became friends for over 12 years”,

he said.

Okpebholo assured the bereaved family of Inspector Akor Onu that the brutal killing of their breadwinner would not be swept under the carpet by any guise.

He, however, prayed for the repose of the soul of the officer and speedy recovery for the injured.
