Are you an iPhone user? Apple might owe you a significant amount of money, but you need to claim it before an upcoming deadline this year.
Apple is paying out eligible iPhone users following a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging false advertising over Siri features customers allegedly did not receive. The window to submit a claim opened this week.
Advanced Siri features powered by artificial intelligence launched this September with the iOS 27 update, but the lawsuit, filed last year, claims that these advanced AI features were marketed to come much sooner.
The initial lawsuit claimed customers expected to receive advanced Siri artificial intelligence features in the iPhone 16 series in 2024, because Apple “touted these AI capabilities as the cornerstone of the new iPhone’s appeal,” but the actual features fell short. As part of the settlement, Apple denies any wrongdoing and has no admission of guilt.
To claim your money, visit the dedicated settlement website: smartphoneaisettlement.com. (Yes, smartphoneaisettlement.com is the name of the real website for submitting claims. It was created by the firm that filed the lawsuit. Don’t trust any other URL you may see.)
Eligible iPhones include iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max that were purchased in the U.S. between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
I am an eligible iPhone user, and I can attest that the form is simple to fill out. All I needed to do was share basic personal information and look up my iPhone’s serial number. To do this, go to your phone’s Settings, then “General,” then select the “About” tab at the top of your screen. There, you will see your iPhone’s model name and serial number. If you no longer have the phone’s serial number, you can share your Apple ID and the phone number associated with the account.
While filling out the form, you must agree with the statement: “I expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it.”
The settlement website said that people who submit valid claims can receive a cash payment of $25 per device, which may become $95 per device, depending on how many people submit valid claims. People can submit a claim until Dec. 21.
Just don’t count on getting your cash quickly. According to the settlement website, a hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2027, which will “determine if the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.” If there are further debates or appeals after this process, the payout will take longer.
But “If there is no appeal, your settlement benefit will be processed promptly. Please be patient,” the website states. You can choose to have your payout come through a physical check, PayPal or Venmo.
