Abuja-Kaduna: DSS Arrests Train Service Manager

- Advertisment -

Pascal Nnorli, the manager of the Abuja-Kaduna Kaduna Train Services, has been reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Naija News gathered that Nnorli’s arrest might not be unconnected to the leak of a memo warning of the possible terror attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway.

Recall that terrorists had on Monday, March 28, 2022, attacked an Abuja–Kaduna bound train in Katari village, Kaduna State, kidnapping many people. This incident forced the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) to briefly halted operations along the route.

In a leaked letter signed by DSS Director of FCT Command, R.N. Adepemu, entitled, ‘Security Alert: Impending Threat By A Coalition Of Banditry Syndicate To Attack Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Along AKTS Corridor,’ the DSS warned train passengers to be extra vigilant over the impending attack.

The DSS warned of an “impending threat to seamless train transportation along the Abuja – Kaduna Train Service (AKTS),” adding that a coalition of banditry syndicates was plotting to attack the Abuja-Kaduna train aimed at kidnapping passengers on board for ransom any moment from now.

A reliable source in the Nigerian Railway Corporation told The PUNCH that the manager was arrested along with the Operations Manager, Victor Adamu, and other staff members.

Speaking on Sunday, the NRC source said, “Do you know that they have arrested our manager since last Thursday – the two of them, the operation manager and Pascal? But they have released one of them.

“Victor is a victim of circumstances because they met him in Pascal’s office, so they arrested him together with all Pascal’s staff and took them to the DSS office. Pascal is still there now.”

The source, who said the arrest was likely to be in connection with the leak of the DSS memo, claimed that the letter, which detailed sensitive information about the attack, was addressed to the Managing Director of the NRC.

The source stressed that the DSS explicitly warned that if the letter were to leak, it could lead to arrests.

“I couldn’t tell why they arrested them, but what I am hearing is they said one letter concerning this Abuja-Kaduna attack, they wrote one letter to our Managing Director, and it states clearly that if the letter leaks, it can lead to arrest and according to DSS it was Pascal’s office they dropped the letter and the letter leaked and went viral,” the source said.
