Aloy Ejimakor, the legal counsel of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has disclosed that a doctor has visited his client.
Aloy Ejimakor said the Department of State Services (DSS) allowed a doctor to visit Kanu on Wednesday after denying access on Monday.
On his X handle, on Tuesday, the IPOB leader’s counsel said Kanu requested to see his doctor when he, along with his legal team, visited on Monday. He alleged that his doctor arrived, but DSS denied him access to Kanu.
“Yesterday (Monday), during our visitation with Nnamdi Kanu, we found him ill, with shortness of breath, low BP and general malaise. For this reason, he requested to see his doctor and we submitted a letter in this regard. Today, the Doctor arrived the DSS but was denied access to Kanu.”
Ejimakor further accused DSS of being aware of Kanu’s potassium deficiency that affected the function of his heart.
“The DSS is well aware that Nnamdi Kanu is susceptible to Potassium Deficiency which affects the function of the heart. This problem was diagnosed by DSS doctors some 3 years ago and they confessed to their lack of the expertise to treat the problem, which in all probability is the cause of Kanu’s current illness.
“This is no doubt very serious and deadly to boot. The readings of the electronic heart monitor supplied by the DSS have been recording low pressure levels for nearly 9 days in a row without any medical intervention to ascertain whether the blood potassium level is within the clinically acceptable range,
” he wrote.
On Wednesday, however, he wrote on his X handle that the doctor was allowed to see the IPOB leader. He added that the doctor’s report presented a complex medical condition that required Kanu to be taken to the hospital.
“Today (Wednesday), DSS finally allowed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu‘s physician to see him. The Doctor’s preliminary report presented complex medical conditions that require that Nnamdi Kanu be taken to a hospital for more detailed diagnosis. This will follow a report that will be sent to DG-DSS by the Doctor,” Ejimakor said.
