Hoodlums Reportedly Disguised As Amotekun Corps Invade Mechanic Workshop In Osun, Cart Away Three Vehicles And Spare Parts

- Advertisment -

Suspected hoodlums who disguised as officials of Amotekun Corps raided a mechanic workshop in Osogbo, Osun State, and carted away three vehicles and spare parts worth millions of naira.

According to the Nation, about twenty armed men arrived at the workshop in Hilux vans around 10 am on July 29, 2024.

They were said to have spent hours at the place, towing three vehicles belonging to customers.

Babatunde Oyetunji (pictured), the owner of the workshop located opposite the NNPC mega station, confirmed the incident to journalists on Friday

“I was away when the armed hoodlums, who disguised as Amotekun operatives, invaded my workshop and stole three vehicles with new engines and gears,”
he narrated.

“My apprentices described it as a huge siege. I urge the Inspector General of Police to investigate this misuse of Amotekun uniforms for such a heinous crime.”

However, reacting to the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Amotekun in the state, Abass Yusuf, denied the allegations.

“The Osun Amotekun Corps has responded to allegations made by Babatunde Oyetunji, an Osogbo-based auto mechanic, claiming that the Corps raided his workshop and stole vehicles and spare parts worth millions of naira,” he said.

“We have been made aware of a social media publication containing libelous allegations against the Osun Amotekun Corps, which we must correct to prevent the spread of misinformation.

“The publication falsely alleged that Osun Amotekun Corps invaded Oyetunji’s workshop on Ring Road, Osogbo, and stole vehicles and spare parts.

“We wish to inform the public that Osun Amotekun Corps was not involved in this act, and the news is entirely false

“We urge the public to disregard the news published by some bloggers, as Osun Amotekun did not invade any workshop in Osogbo as alleged.

“This publication appears to be part of a campaign to damage Osun Amotekun’s reputation and bring it into public contempt.

“We urge the promoters of this publication to cease publishing false news aimed at tarnishing the reputation and achievements of Osun Amotekun Corps.

“The Corps will not take it lightly with anyone alleging the outfit falsely without getting facts from the Corps before publication, to serve as a deterrent to others whose motive is to damage the reputation of the Corps.”
