Our 42 Favorite Black Friday Smart Home and Kitchen Deals

- Advertisment -

Months into the Covid-19 pandemic, many of us are spending more time at home than ever. Before, maybe you could ignore the spiderwebs in the corners of the bedroom or a drippy shower head. Now, they stare you in the face all day, every day. Here at the Gadget Lab, we’re always testing gear to help make your home a pleasant place to be. Now, we’ve scoured the web to bring you Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on some of our favorite air purifiers, robot vacuums, and more.

Note: We strike through items that sell out or are no longer at their deal price as of publishing. Discounts sometimes return, so check for yourself. We will update this guide throughout the weekend.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

Updated November 28: We’ve added a few more deals, like the Bokksu subscription box, and tweaked pricing throughout.

Smart Home Deals

The products below aren’t the only gear that can make your home life easier. Be sure to check out our other guides, including the Best TV and Soundbar Deals and the Best Google Devices for more ideas and bargains!

Photograph: Dyson

Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP04 for $449 ($200 off)

Best Buy, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond

We love Dyson’s midsize tower air purifiers. I currently have this one running. It has a small footprint, excellent air purifying performance, and doubles as a heater for when the temperatures drop.

★ Our Top Pick—Dyson V10 Animal Stick Vacuum for $349 ($150 off)

Dyson, Best Buy, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond

This is one of our favorite stick vacuums. It’s wireless and can convert into a hand-vac, so you can use it to clean the trunk of your car. The battery runs around an hour, and the suction is powerful. You can read more about it here. If $350 is too much, the Dyson V8 Absolute is now $50 less and is a solid choice if you don’t mind a little less power and bin capacity.

Eufy HomeVac S11 Cordless Stick Vacuum for $210 ($90 off)

We haven’t tried this Dyson stick vacuum dupe ourselves, but it’s significantly cheaper than the Dyson stick vacuums we love (and it’s in stock). In general, I’ve found Eufy products to be effective and well designed.

August Smart Lock Pro + Connect for $160 ($70 off)

Amazon ($195), August (With Code BLACKFRIDAY70, Bed Bath & Beyond ($195)

This smart lock is easy to install on your front door, simple to set up, and it’s pretty! You can grant unlocking access to family members via the app too. Read our review for more information.

Yamazaki Rolling Side Table for $64 ($21 off)

Yamazaki’s sleek, convenient, and ingenious home goods are almost as popular in Japan as Ikea. Huckberry is offering 25 percent off everything Yamazaki on its site. This leaning ladder seems like a great way to get clothes off your bedroom floor.

Tile Limited Edition Sushi Tile for $25 ($11 off)

Tiles are one of our favorite ways to find almost anything. All limited-edition Tiles (we particularly like the sushi ones) are 30 percent off through Cyber Monday.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8+ for $450 ($250 off)

Best Buy

This is a Best Buy exclusive. We haven’t tested this specific model yet (it’s on the way!), but if your home is dirty enough to require a robot vacuum, it probably needs a self-emptying bin. In general, we’ve found Ecovacs vacuums to be powerful and have long battery life. We also like the Deebot Ozmo T5 on sale at Amazon and Best Buy.

Roborock S4 Max for $340 ($110 off)

Roborock has slowly become one of my favorite robot vacuum manufacturers. Each of their S series offer better battery life and bigger bin sizes. Product reviewer Parker Hall likes this vacuum a lot.

Eufy Robovac 30C for $180 ($120 off)

This vacuum is a little short on features. For example, it lacks mapping capabilities or a self-emptying bin, but it’s sleek, attractive, low-profile, quiet, and easy to use. Plus, you can connect it to Alexa or Google Assistant.

Shark IQ Robot Vacuum With Bin for $320 ($280 off)

Amazon, Bed, Bath & Beyond

This is the top pick in our Best Robot Vacuums guide. It has a self-emptying bin, so the vac takes trips to the base to drop off dirt once it’s full (and resumes cleaning afterward). Read our review for more.

AeroGarden Bounty Basic for $160 ($69 off)

At WIRED, we’re big fans of AeroGarden’s easy-to-use, app-connected hydroponic gardening systems. This is a good way to scratch the itch on your green thumb until spring can come again.

Solo Stove Ranger Stove for $180 ($90 off)

Solo Stove

We haven’t reviewed this specific fire pit, but WIRED writer Parker Hall likes the Solo Stove Yukon. If you’re looking for a beautiful and warming way to host friends in a socially distanced outdoor setting, you can’t do much better than this reasonably priced fire pit.

Society6 Face Masks for $12 ($4 off)

WIRED’s managing digital producer, Kim Chua, loves these graphic face masks. If having a fun print is an incentive to wear your mask, you’ll appreciate these artist-designed ones. They come in many fun designs and have both pleated and flat styles.

Gravity Blanket for $137 ($52 off)

Gravity Blanket, Amazon

Weighted blankets are a great way to self-soothe and keep yourself warm at the same time, but one of our favorite brands has historically been expensive. Gravity Blanket is offering 30 percent off sitewide through Black Friday weekend.

Nebia x Moen Rainshower + Wand for $215 ($54 off)

Nebia, Home Depot

Nebia’s low-flow Rainshower showerhead has a glamorous origin story. The misty spray is too diffuse for my personal liking, but it looks great and saves you a lot on your water bill. Nebia is currently offering 20 percent off sitewide through December 10.

Tushy Classic for $89 ($20 off)

Tushy’s affordable, easy-to-install bidets will help you cut down on your toilet paper usage for any upcoming shortages.

Ecobee Smart Thermostat for $199 ($50 off)

Ecobee, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s ($150), Best Buy

I have both a Nest and an Ecobee, and I prefer Ecobee’s simpler programming over the Nest’s predictive temperature adjustment, especially since we’re at home all the time now. The brand’s home security bundle and Lite thermostat (which is not Alexa-enabled and doesn’t come with accessory sensors) are on sale now too.

Arlo Video Doorbell for $99 ($50 off)

Arlo, Amazon, Best Buy

We haven’t tested this particular Arlo camera, but in general, we like Arlo’s video quality and ease of use. There are also several other Arlo models on sale, including the Arlo Pro 3 two-camera kit ($200 off) and Ultra 2 Spotlight camera ($50 off).

Molekule Air Mini for $399 ($100 off)

Molekule, Amazon

Molekule uses patented PECO technology to destroy pollutants, rather than filtering them out like traditional air purifiers. It’s a little difficult for the layperson to know how much more effective PECO is than filtering; as measured by an air quality monitor, it seems to work about as well. Still, they’re small, stylish, and have a small footprint.

Moen Arbor Smart Water Faucet for $344 ($86 off)

We like Moen’s beautiful, minimalist water fixtures, but they’re expensive. This faucet has four methods of control—manual, app, hands-free, or voice—and you can customize water temperature and volume.

Photograph: Ooni

Ooni Fyra for $200 ($50 off)

Ooni, makers of some of our favorite pizza ovens, are holding a 25 percent off sale sitewide through December 2. This is my favorite compact, easy-to-use piece of backyard equipment.

Vitamix Ascent Blender for $350 ($200 off)

Vitamix, Amazon

Vitamix’s top-of-the-line series has a programmable timer, touchscreen, and wireless capabilities with the Vitamix app, in addition to the 2.2-horsepower engine that can reduce the toughest almond to creamy butter. Vitamix is also offering free standard shipping if you spend more than $100. There is also a pretty significant discount on the Professional Series 750 ($390, $210 off).

Bokksu Box for $22 ($5 off)

This Japanese-themed snack box explores different themes and regions of Japan, for example, curating a box around Osaka or rural Japanese islands. You get 20 to 24 items, from snacks to candies to a tea pairing, plus a guide filled with details on all the products in the box. For more ideas, check out our guide to the Best Snack Subscriptions.

ZenPop Box for $27 (1 Month) ($3 off)

ZenPop With Code BF3

We also like the ZenPop subscription snack box, which includes ramen with its sweets. That is, some of the best instant ramen WIRED’s Louryn Strampe has ever had. The four boxes you can choose from are Stationery, Ramen, Sweets, Ramen + Sweets Mix.

Coravin Wine Bottle Opener and Preserver for $200 ($200 off)

Amazon, Coravin

Coravin’s wine preservation systems are best-in-class at keeping wine fresh, but they’re ruinously expensive. This deal brings them just a bit more in reach.

ThermoWorks Thermapen Mk4 for $75 ($25 off)

I have this instant-read thermometer, which is fast, accurate, waterproof, and has lasted several years. One of our favorite barbecue thermometers, the Smoke from ThermoWorks, is on sale as well.

Oxo 8-Cup Coffee Maker for $136 ($34 off)

Oxo, Home Depot

We just gave this coffee maker one of our highest ratings; it’s an 8-cup automatic brewer that can also make a single cup! In fact, all of Oxo’s coffee and tea products will be 20 percent off through Cyber Monday.

Oxo Cold Brew Maker for $40 ($10 off)

Amazon, Williams & Sonoma, Bed Bath & Beyond

Everyone always forgets about cold brew coffee, which is a shame because it’s an awfully convenient thing to have in the fridge in the afternoon. Oxo’s bucket-style immersion brewer is meant to sit proudly on your counter and is one of our favorite cold brew coffee makers.

Keurig K-Cafe for $100 ($100 off)

If you include a coffee subscription (a 24-box commitment) with your new Keurig, you can get a coffee maker for 50 percent off! We love Keurig’s latte and cappuccino machine, but many other coffee makers are on sale, too. You can also get a brewer without a subscription for 30 percent off.

Atlas Coffee Club Subscription First Bag Free ($14 off)

Atlas Coffee Club

It’s near impossible for me to start the day without a cup of coffee. I’ve been using Atlas Coffee Club for the past two years to get fresh coffee beans from various countries around the world. You can customize the quantity and type of roast, and in the box, you get a little information about where the coffee comes from and tasting notes. Atlas is offering the first bag for free if you subscribe, which usually costs $14 a month for a 12-ounce bag. Check out our Best Espresso and Latte Machines and Best Portable Coffee Makers guides if you don’t have the means to make a cup of joe.

Cuisinart Double Belgian Waffle Maker for $93 ($92 off)

At WIRED, we’re just a little weird about waffle makers. An on-sale waffle maker is a much faster way to make cakes, hash browns, and more. This model can make two at the same time.

Pets and Parenting Deals

Who deserves a holiday treat more than our babies (of the two- and four-legged variety)? For more ideas, check out our Best STEM Toys and Best Dog Accessories guides.

Photograph: KiwiCo

KiwiCo Gift Subscriptions for $10 ($10 off)

Of all the gift subscriptions for kids I tested, Kiwi’s crates are the only ones that I resubscribed to for my own children. They’re not overwhelmingly full, and the activities are simple, colorful, and educational. If you don’t want to subscribe, the company is also offering 20 percent off individual crates, 25 percent off orders over $100, and 30 percent off orders over $150.

Sphero Specdrums for $50 ($50 off)

Amazon, Walmart ($45)

These rings can turn your kid into an amateur DJ. Using the connected app, they can assign sounds to colors (or vice versa), and tapping on a color with the ring will produce the jingle. We have other similar options in our STEM Toys guide.

Sago Mini Minibox Gift Subscription for $9 ($10 off)

Sago Mini with code FIRSTBOX9

We also recommend this gift subscription box, which encourages explorative play for kids. It requires much less parental supervision to assemble and play with than many of the other boxes we tested.

Nixplay Black 13.3-Inch Smart Photo Frame for $229 ($71 off)

Nixplay ($265), Amazon, Best Buy ($250)

Nixplay frames make perennial appearances in all of our family gift guides; it’s an easy, low-tech, and attractive way to send digital photos across wide spaces. Many of its frames are on sale, but this is the size and color I bought my own dad, who says it’s the best gift he’s ever gotten.

Petcube Bites 2 for $159 ($90 off)

We love this sleek, convenient pet camera/treat dispenser so much that we recommend it in both our Best Dog Accessories and our Best Pet Cameras guides. It’s only $50 off if you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription.

Fi Smart Dog Collar for $74 ($75 off)

TryFi with code BLACKFRIDAY

The Fi smart dog collar is our favorite tracker for rugged outdoor dogs (or escape artists who get out of the yard). The Series 2 upgrade has a bigger battery, slightly nicer hardware, and a better antenna. The GPS plan is free for 30 days so you can try it out, but it’s $99 per year afterward.

Catit Water Fountain for $22 ($7 off)

Everything from cat retailer Catit is 25 percent off through the holiday. We will be including the cat water fountain in an upcoming cat accessories guide if you’re trying to get a thirsty kitty away from the sink.

Wayb Pico Seat for $248 ($82 off)

Wayb (discount applied at checkout)

My kids and I all love this car seat, which is low-profile, easy to install, sustainable, and takes up much less room in my car’s backseat. Wayb, a children’s gear company founded by an outdoor gear manufacturer with Patagonia’s former CEO, is offering 25 percent off site-wide through the weekend.

Square Off Kingdom Set for $369 ($30 off)

Square Off with code BLACKFRIDAY

If you enjoyed binge-watching The Queen’s Gambit and somebody in your home is suddenly curious about chess, this Bluetooth-connected chess set is fun. It moves the pieces automatically as you play against a computer or another person via the app (it connects to Chess.com, so you’ll never run out of people to play with). This is also a great way to watch how classic chess games played out in real life.

Crayola STEAM Liquid Science Kit for $18 ($2 off)

Everything at Crayola is on sale, with some products up to 60 percent off through Cyber Monday. On its own, the deal might not be significant, but this is a good time to stock up for future homeschooling projects.

Penny Ellyse 22-inch Skateboard for $70 ($40 off)

Penny Skateboards

Many of us have taken up some new outdoor sport in quarantine. If you jumped on the skating craze but can’t quite manage it indoors, try a tiny Penny. I (Adrienne) bought a pink one for my daughter and ended up keeping it for myself. The aluminum trucks and soft wheels mean it rides like a real skateboard, not a toy.
