Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has called upon Muslim faithful to utilize the final 10 days of Ramadan to pray for the country and its leaders, seeking God’s guidance in utilizing public funds for the common good.
Obi stated this while commissioning a borehole he donated to the Sabon layi community on the outskirt of Bauchi metropolis, on Sunday.
“At this Ramadan fasting period, we decided to go round to various communities to see how the people are surviving and see if there is any support we can offer our modest contribution to alleviate their sufferings.”
“There is a great need for water at this community and we are supporting the Sabon layi community with a borehole for the good of the people. We are also supporting 100 households with tokens to help them celebrate the Sallah festival.
“As we are in the last 10 days of Ramadan, I urge you to pray for our country Nigeria because we don’t have any other country except this one. So continue to remember it in your prayers. You should continue to remember the leaders in prayer, pray for the president, pray for the governor and pray for all the leaders to asked God to guide them to spend public money for public good so that people can stop suffering because as you can see things are worsening. The cost of food stuff has doubled beyond the reach of ordinary people.
“This borehole means a lot to me because what we’ve been doing during this Ramadan period. I am going round to various communities across Nigeria going to people to understand and learn about their livelihood and how they live especially in this difficult times and see if there is any little thing or any small thing I can help them to provide that would make their life better.”
Responding on behalf of the community, representative of village head of Sabon lay, Malam Aminu Muhammad, thanked Obi for the gesture and assured him that the people would protect the borehole to benefits of the community and achieve the desire objectives.
