Gombe State Government has condemned the recent attacks on the All Progressives Party Congress (APC) property and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office in Gombe by suspected hoodlums.

Hoodlums destroy Atiku’s campaign office in Gombe, set PDP Secretariat ablaze.

This is contained in a statement signed by Julius Ishaya, Commissioner of Information, Gombe State, on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the early hours of Tuesday, the APC property was set ablaze while the PDP office and Atiku Campaign office were vandalised.

“The Government of Gombe State condemns in strongest terms the ugly activities of some political thugs.

“The thugs were acting under the clear instruction and supervision of the enemies of the peace loving people and Government of Gombe State,” Ishaya said.

According to him, the attacks showed the desperation of some “power and blood thirsty people who lost the control of the state treasury and bent on returning to it.”

“The selfish people have resorted to unleashing violence on the peaceful polity of the state which other states were admiring.

” I wish to remind all and sundry irrespective of political affiliations that we are in a democracy and the only means of getting power is through the ballot box of which the time is yet to come.

”We also wish to state categorically clear that the Government of Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will continue to do everything to ensure the protection of people’s lives and property,” he said.

He assured that the government would cooperate with the security operatives in the state to bring the perpetrators of the act to book.

The commissioner commended the security agencies in the state for promptly bringing the situation under control.

”We will continue to give all security operatives in the state the needed support to deal decisively with everyone that will bring about the breakdown of peace in the state,” he said.
