Man Exposed After Buying Gun To Rob People In Niger

The Police in Niger State have arrested a 30-year-old man from Gwagwa for unlawful possession of firearm, Punch Metro reports.

The suspect, Nasiru Abdullahi, was said to have been apprehended for unlawful possession of a locally-made rifle wrapped in a sack.

It was learnt that Abdullahi was trailed and apprehended by a team of policemen attached to the Tafa Division following a tip-off.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Abdullahi bought the gun from one James Pada of the same area for N70,000.




“I wanted to use the gun to rob people and get something that I will eat; the times are hard; I have been robbing for the past three years and breaking into people’s shops and houses,”
the suspect told our correspondent.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, said the suspect had confessed to the crime.




“The police will no longer tolerate unlawful possession of firearms in the state and we have warned people to desist from it or face the full wrath of the law,”
Abiodun stated.
