During a meeting with members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Committee of FCT Imams Initiative (CFII) on Wednesday, October 26, 2023, Wike stated the importance of religious leaders supporting the current administration.

Wike, addressing the executive members of CAN led by its national president, Daniel Okoh, and the CFII led by chairman Tajudeen Adigun, cautioned against falling prey to the schemes of ambitious and desperate politicians.

He stressed the need for religious leaders to question information before taking any action, particularly in the age of social media misinformation.

“Be careful with politicians who are so desperate to get power,” warned Wike during his meeting with CAN.

“Be careful with politicians who can do anything just because of power. It is not everything you read in social media that is correct. Ask questions.

“God has voted a president for this country; pray for him to succeed. Harsh decisions are being taken to address the wrong way things had been done. This is not the time to criticise, but a time to help Nigeria to grow.

The further emphasised that once a leader is elected, personal opinions should be set asidministere, and prayers for the leader’s success should take precedence, ultimately contributing to the nation’s progress.

Addressing concerns about potential divisive narratives, Wike highlighted the manipulative tactics of opposition politicians who resort to spreading discord. He encouraged religious leaders to seek the truth and not succumb to misleading information.

As a gesture of support, Wike pledged the continuous backing of the FCT administration to the National Christian Centre and the National Mosque, which he referred to as “national assets.

He assured the religious bodies of his commitment to visiting these national monuments to assess their rehabilitation needs and provide necessary assistance.
