RCCG Pastor’s Wife Shot Dead By Gunmen Taraba

Mrs. Oluwakemi Moses Konye, the wife of a Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor has been killed by gunmen in Taraba State.
 
The Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
 
According to the statement signed by the group’s Executive Director, Emmanuel Yakubu, the mother of one was shot dead in an attack which occurred along the Wukari-Jootar highway on November 17, 2023.
 
The deceased, accompanied by her two-month-old child, was travelling from Akure to Taraba to reunite with her husband before the unfortunate incident.
 
“We urgently draw the attention of the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of Police to the relentless attacks occurring along the Wukari-Jootar federal highway, at the intersection of Taraba and Benue State. We are deeply disturbed by the recent incident involving Mrs. Oluwakemi Moses Konye, a member of the Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative,
” the statement read.
     
“Mrs. Oluwakemi served as a Youth Corps member in 2019 and eventually got married to a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Taraba Province 1, she tragically lost her life in an attack while traveling from Akure to reunite with her husband, accompanied by her two-month-old child on 17/11/2023. Despite the heavy presence of military and police checkpoints along this route, incidents like these persist unchallenged.
     
“Numerous citizens, including a senior consultant from the federal medical center Jalingo, have faced similar ordeals. These occurrences demand immediate action from the appropriate authorities.
     
“We implore the military and the police to intervene urgently. Additionally, we call upon Senator David S.U Jimkuta representing Taraba South at the National Assembly to use his influence to address this pressing issue.
     
“Today, Mrs. Oluwakemi leaves behind a two-month-old baby. We vehemently condemn these criminal acts and urge swift action against these perpetrators.
     
“TYTI extends gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the executive governor of Taraba, for his efforts in enhancing security. We appeal for further support and collaboration with the Army, and Air Force to safeguard the state.”
