Forget worn-out WASD keys. The true hallmark of being a gamer is a never-ending list of games you want to play. Working through a wish list can get expensive, but with a little patience, it’s pretty easy to come across cheap games for every system, whether it’s an Xbox, PlayStation, PC, or Nintendo Switch. We hunted down the best game deals we could find for every console and gaming subscription service, and we’ll be updating this story every month with a fresh batch of discounts.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

Where Can I Find Game Deals?

Retailers often don’t list an end date for video game deals, which means they can end at any time. Price tracking tools like Camelcamelcamel can be helpful for setting up price drop alerts, but they don’t always work on digital-only titles, and they don’t work with every store. Our advice? Check sale sections at major retailers like GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and Walmart

What’s a good deal? A good rule of thumb is to aim for $40 or less for a recently released AAA title, and $20 or less for older, still popular titles. Video game sales pop up frequently, so be patient and do your price research before clicking Add to Cart.

Nintendo Switch Game Deals

Humble Bundle offers several bundles every month with various prices. Proceeds are donated to charity. The bundle expands based on how much you pay, but there’s always a lot of value in terms of both what you’re getting and what you’re giving. Games are redeemable via Steam (mostly for Windows, though occasionally Mac or Linux machines are included).

This month’s Pixel Pride Bundle includes titles created by and/or featuring members of the LGBTQIA+ community. That includes games like Celeste and Growing Up. Pay $12 or more to get all 7 items. Proceeds benefit the Trevor Project.

PlayStation Subscription Deals

Sony’s PlayStation Plus service has three tiers, all of which come with two free games every month. Subscriptions start at $10 per month, but you can fork over a bit more cash for the middle Extra tier and gain access to a catalog of more than 400 fan-favorite games. At $18 a month, the higher-end Premium tier is pretty expensive, but it includes a more extensive library of older PlayStation titles, plus some streaming options. Learn more about the different services here.

This month, NBA 2K23, Jurassic Blue Evolution 2, and Trek to Yomi are free for subscribers.
