Many cosmetic companies use celebrities to advertise their products and make them brand ambassadors, but in recent years we see a shift. Many celebrities (local and international) now own their beauty brands.

Celebrities having their skincare line is on brand with most of them, and why not? They have notoriety and fame already to market these products.

Additionally, it’s a viable business, and most of them have the money to get the required expertise – that’s why they most likely succeed. Most importantly, they make excellent products.

These are some celebrities who own beauty brands;

Rihanna’s Fenty Skin and Fenty Beauty launched in September 2017 and according to Tajmeeli, Fenty is currently ranked 5th makeup and beauty company in the world.

Fenty revolutionized skincare and makeup and the company made Rihanna a billionaire. It was not surprising, her range of products catered to the skin tones of black women – a novel concept.

Kim is the owner of KKW Beauty for makeup and now SKKN for skin care. Kim also became a billionaire because of these franchises, including SKIMS (an intimate garments brand).

Kim products are amazing and have been described as the best makeup for those who want neutral tones.

Just after her 28th Birthday, the actress and Big Brother alum launched her skincare line called, Star Girl Skin.

The line has just three products, luminous body scrub, luminous glow scrub and glow oil.

The former Disney star of the very popular show, Wizard of Waverly place who turned into an award-winning singer launched her beauty line, Rare Beauty, in 2020.

Selena’s goal was not to radically change women with makeup but to enhance their beauty. The makeup line features a lot of neutral colours that give a clean finish.

Actress, Ini has her line of beauty and makeup brand called Beauty Secrets of April, and from what we hear, it is really good.

She has a line of Vitamin C face wash, body wash, serum, body lotion and face wash. She also has a collection of eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks.

Of course, this list is endless, especially in the United States, almost every female celebrity is involved in beauty.

Kylie Jenner’s, Kylie is ranked ninth worldwide. Ariana Grande’s, Rem Beauty is wildly popular.

Other celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Halsey, Issa Rae, and Tracee Ellis Ross, just to name a few are involved in beauty.

In Nigeria, Actress Efe Irele, has her beauty line called Fayrele.

Recently, Justin Bieber’s wife and supermodel, Hailey Bieber began her skincare line called, Rhode.

Days after it dropped, the reviews have been raving, and many people said it feels incredibly light on the skin.

Why do celebrities’ beauty brands do so well?

Because they are not faceless corporations who care about nothing but profit-making. They do not want to be dragged or cancelled on the internet.

Celebrities want to trend for a good reason, and so they put their heart and soul into these ventures. Plus, they mostly venture into beauty to fix beauty needs and gaps.

Will celebrities keep venturing into beauty? Yes, of course, and with their fanbase, there will always be clientele, but that isn’t enough, the amount of work they put into it makes it a success.
