The World Cup knockout round features two Cinderellas — Cape Verde and DR Congo. After beating Uzbekistan in its final group match, DR Congo gets England, who won Group L.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will have Declan Rice available after the midfielder was rested against Panama after picking up a minor calf injury. Defenders Reece James (hamstring) and Jarell Quansah (ankle) are the biggest question marks health-wise for England.

Sébastien Desabre’s side have been the kings of the comeback in this tournament. DR Congo came from behind in each of their three group stage matches to earn four points and a place in the Round of 32. Do not count out Les Léopards.

The winner will advance to play Mexico on Sunday at Estadio Azteca.

Belgium vs. Senegal

Wednesday, July 1 | 4 p.m. ET | Seattle | TV: FS1

Odds: Belgium -178, Senegal +144

The “golden generation” of Belgium is hoping for one successful last run as they begin the knockout stage. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and striker Romelu Lukaku are among those who were a part of the Red Devils’ side that finished third at the 2018 World Cup. After topping Group G, they face a difficult test in Senegal.

The Lions of Teranga lost their opening two group stages matches, but managed to advance after beating Iraq 5-0. They have not played their best on a consistent basis yet, which makes them a dangerous opponent.

The winner will advance to the Round of 16 and face the USMNT or Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 6 in Seattle.

USA vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina

Wednesday, July 1 | 8 p.m. ET | Santa Clara, Cali. | TV: Fox

Odds: USA -750, Bosnia +500

A very strong home World Cup has delivered a knockout round match for the United States national team. After winning Group D, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have plenty of home support at Levi’s Stadium against Bosnia and Herzegovina. A starting XI that we saw against Australia is likely what will hit the field on Tuesday night after Pochettino made nine changes for the group-stage finale against Türkiye.

The Bosnians have been impressive on their road to the Round of 32. They reached the World Cup by eliminating Italy during the March playoffs and then finished third in Group B after drawing co-hosts Canada and beating Qatar.

Whoever advances will meet Belgium or Senegal next.
